I remember my dad used to make Deviled Ham Spread often after the Honey Bake Ham store closed in our town. I make it now with a spin of my own on the recipe. I always make plenty because I like to give them as Thank You Gift or as a Hostess Gift.
The Deviled Ham recipe is a fast and easy way to spice up leftover cooked ham. It seems that ham is mostly around my house around Easter time.
Just blend ham into a smooth spread in a food processor and then mix in pickled relish, Dijon mustard and mayonnaise, plus cayenne pepper and Tobasco for the Spicy Factor.
With the look and feel of Pate, this Deviled Ham is an unexpected Party Appetizer. Serve on fancy crackers, or enjoy it with a nice french baguette. Wine perhaps :)
This is how my father Walt enjoyed his Deviled Ham Spread.
Here we go
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons dill pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 pound cooked ham, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/4 medium yellow onion, coarsely chopped
- Crackers or bread, for serving
Enjoy
