IRISH SODA BREAD

Just in time for St. Patrick's Day. Traditional, yet ridiculously easy.
Irish Soda Bread recipe!
I've tried several recipes for Irish Soda Bread, and this is my favorite.

Flour dropped in.

I am adding to the flour baking powder, sugar, salt, and baking soda.

Whip up one egg in a separate bowl.

I poured in my 2 cups of buttermilk and melted butter and WHISK it. Some Irish Soda Bread recipes call for either, raisons, currents, cranberries or even caraway seeds. It's always your choice to add.
I prefer this rich bread plan and simple, that way I have lots of options for what I may spread on top.

Plop the dough into a prepared buttered loaf pan. It's so incredibly easy, especially if you're impatient and don't want to wait around for the dough to rise!

Off to the oven that is preheated to 325 degrees.

This smell is Amazing!
It bakes up into such a beautiful loaf that I can't believe it isn't a yeast bread.

For some reason, I tend to only make Irish Soda Bread near St. Patricks Day, but its so simple and delicious. I really ought to make it more often.

This is mine. It just melts in in my mouth. I love this bread warm and with
a spread of Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter, I am happy.

I made an extra loaf and …

Wrapped it up pretty and of course, in the colors of The Irish Flag.
Green White and Orange. This bread is going to my girlfriend's house.
She just had surgery.

For sure add The Kerrygold Butter & Bubbly.
It's at her front door. Get well soon girl xo

1 tablespoon baking powder
1/3 cup white sugar

Bake for 65 to 70 minutes, or until a tooth pick inserted in the bread comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack or dig in. wrap in foil for several hours, or overnight, for best flavor.
