Black-Eyed Peas is a hearty and soul-warming delicacy. This black-eyed peas recipe
is smokey, spicy, and pure delicious satisfaction with a deep yet not
overwhelming ham flavor.
This is a traditional dish to serve on New Years Day to bring good luck!
Let's get our pot of good luck started.
Most important is a good bag of dry Black Eyed Peas!
In your slow cooker toss in...
1 16 oz. bag of dry black eyed peas
1 diced onion
2 diced jalapeno peppers
1 diced red pepper
Dice up one good size ham steak.
Toss the ham into the pot with 1 tablespoon of minced garlic.
Next add in the seasonings...
1-1/2 teaspoons of cumin
1 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Dash of red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Pour into the pot 6 cups of water.
Squeeze is 3 packets of good beef bouillon to the mix.
Toss is a bay leaf and give the pot a stir.
Put a lid on the slow cooker and set high for 6 hours or low for 8 hours.
Get ready for your house to smell amazing all day long!
Pour the Black Eyed Peas into a cute serving dish and garnish with some chives.
Be sure to pour the Champagne!
