IRISH SODA BREAD

Irish soda bread is a delicious, dense, biscuit-like bread. Slather It with
Irish Kerrygold butter because it' so incredibly yummy!

A St. Patricks Day Staple.

So Why Am I Only Making This Once A Year???

Irish Soda bread is one of the easiest breads to make. It's very low maintenance
unlike a sour dough. Traditionally, it contains a few
ingredients that include;

Flour
Salt
Buttermilk
Baking Soda
Egg
Butter

The reason for it's unique texture is due to the lack of yeast. Instead of using
yeast to help the bread rise, it uses baking soda. Hence the name
 Irish Soda Bread.

In a large bowl add in 4 cups of flour.

Four tablespoons of sugar.

1 tablespoon of Baking Powder.

1 teaspoon of Baking Soda.

Use a whisk to make sure it is all well combined.

Crack in one egg to the bowl.

Pour in 1 and 1/4 cups of Buttermilk.

Grab your softened Irish butter.

Toss is in a 1/2 cup of the
Irish Kerrygold Butter into the bowl.

Using a hand mixer to help combine everything.

Don't forget to scrape the sides of the bowl.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface.

Put Some Great Music On And...

Kneed for about 10 minutes.

Dust it with flour as needed. It's done when it has the consistency of Playdough.

Form the dough into a loaf and put it on a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
The parchment is going to be important to keep the bottom of the
bread from over cooking :)

Cut a large X in the top of the dough. This is very important
to help dough cook through.

Place the dough in the oven for 15 minutes.

Set the time. While the bread is cooking make the glaze.

Grab a small sauce pan and pour in

1/4 cup of butter
1/4 cup of Buttermilk

Over a low flame heat till all melted.

Perfect...

The timer went off.

Pull the bread out of the oven and brush it with the glaze.
Back into the oven for 15 more minutes.

Set....

When the timer goes off again brush the bread with more glaze and
back into the oven for 15 more minutes.

Set again...

When that 15 minutes is up, use a tooth pick and check the middle of your bread.
If it comes out clean it is done. It if doesn't, glaze it again and put
it back in for a final 10 minutes.

Mine is done and smell...AMAZING

Place the Irish Soda Bread on a cutting board

Grab the butter and maybe a spot of Irish Tea.

Irish Soda Bread is almost a bit like a cake but also still very much bread.
It is also slightly sweeter in a light and surprising way.

So I'm not going to wait till St. Patricks Day anymore to whip up
this fabulous Irish Soda Bread. It's just....
Too Easy & Too Good to wait.

Well...

The Top Of The Morning To You!

Irish Soda Bread is so yummy toasted up with some
Butter & Jelly in the morning too :)

Enjoy!

P.S.

Irish Joke Time...

How can you tell a Irishman is having a good time?

He's Dublin over with laughter!

Why did the Leprechaun walk outside?

He wanted to sit on the Paddy O'!

When is an Irish Potato not and Irish potato?

When it's a French fry!

What do you call a fake stone in Ireland?

A Sham-rock!

What do you call a Leprechaun who gets sent to jail?

A lepre-con!

Why do frogs and alligators like St Patricks Day?

Because they are already wearing green!

What is the difference between an Irish wedding and a funeral?

At a funeral, these's one less drunk!

Did you hear about the Irishman that drank 100 liters of stout in just 30 minutes

They're calling it a Guinness World Record!
