Patatas Panaderas is a traditional Spanish Dish of thinly sliced
Potatoes baked with Onions, Garlic, Olive Oil and
White Wine, resulting in a soft tender texture
with crispy edges.
Spain's Answer To The Perfect Roasted Potatoes!
The name translates to "bakers potatoes" or 'baker-style potatoes"
which refers to the rustic, pan-cooked style of preparation.
Patatas Panaderas is a fabulous side dish for your dinner
but more Importantly, they are absolutely...
Delectable and Mouthwatering!
I guarantee you will go in for seconds or thirds :)
Let's bring a little "Spain" into the kitchen, shall we?
Thinly slice 1 medium yellow Onion.
Toss the sliced Onions into a large bowl.
Peel skin off 6 medium Yukon Gold Potatoes.
Watch Your Fingers!
Save The Potato Peels, I will tell you why in a bit :)
Cut the Potatoes into about 1/4-inch-thick slices.
Watch Your Fingers!
Tumble the Potatoes into the bowl.
Pour into the bowl 5 tablespoons of your
favorite Olive Oil.
Add several minced cloves of Garlic into to the bowl.
Garlic is in so give the bowl a mix.
Finely chop up about 2 tablespoons of fresh
Parsley plus a bit more for the garnish.
Parsley is in and it sure gives this bowl a
Pretty Splash Of Color.
Add in 2 1/2 teaspoons of Salt and 1/4 teaspoon of Pepper .
Butter up a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
Grab Those Potatoes...
Arrange the mixture in an even layer in the baking dish.
Wine Does Not Go In Till Later!
Leave nothing behind, scrape the bowl. :)
Cover the baking dish with foil and truck it to a
325 degree oven for 45 minutes for
the first round of cooking.
My timer is set for 45 minutes.
While the Patatas Panaderas is baking make a simple
Potato Flora Arrangement :)
Now that the 45 minutes are up, pull the baking dish
out and add in 1/4 cup of your favorite
White Wine.
My FAVORITE is WhiteHall Lane Sauvignon. Blanc.
Increase the oven temperature to 375 and put back
into the oven the baking dish Uncovered for
about 35 minutes till potatoes are
caramelized around the edges.
Oh My Goodness this Smells and Looks
AMAZING!
Serve Patatas Panaderas alongside roasted meats or
grilled fish, as is traditional or let them take
center stage with a simple salad.
Of course with a glass of the same
Whitehall White Wine.
Please Have A Bite!
Enjoy!
P.S.
What Did I Do With My Potato Peels You Asked ????
I Baked them up till crispy and golden with just some
Salt, Pepper and Butter
Now I have a snack that is BETTER then a
Potato Chip from a bag. :)
Bake Your Potato Peels :)
Enjoy!
